If I have a herniated disk or sciatica is chiropractic care going to help me?
Ive been in pain for 4-6 months and ive seen a chiropractor 3 times. Today is the worst pain I have been in since the 4-6 months. Im thinking the chiropractor is full of crap and is just trying to string me out for my money.
Should I go see a neurologist and get an actual medical opinion rather than a fake doctor?

NO IT WONT!!! it will make it worse… go see a doc and get a real opinion befor its to late… my mom has perm nerve damage from the same thing!
well my mom has been in the same pain like that and she was went to the neurologist and he told her to start going to see if she got better. she went 3 times and it got worse. she went back to him and he told her to stop cuz it was doing more harm. he told her that she needs to get worked on and thats the only way it will get better. sugry is the answer sorry.
Chiropractic saved me when I had sciatica. You should see a chiropractor numerous times per week until you get the pain level down some. I went through intensive care with the chiropractor and physical therapist for about 1 year before I was fully better.
Going to the chiropractor to treat a herniated disk is crazy! All you are doing is irritating the inflammation in your back. I had the same problem and ended up going to a back specialist to be treated. Please go to your family doctor and get a referral for the right kind of physician to treat you. And do this soon before it gets worse…
You right, the Chiropractor is full of what makes the grass grow green. Get to either a good Orthopedic Surgeon or a Neurologist. A herniated disk can only get worse over time. Get yourself an appointment as soon as possible with one of the other Dr”s Or even both. You should also get an M.R.I. to make sure that this is the correct diagnosis.
I can give you my opinion as a Chiropractor. I will give you an opinion, but without a diagnosis it is hard to say what the best course of treatment is. Sciatica is very treatable by a good chiropractor, disk herniations are a different story.
Understand that surgery is always a last resort, and should be for any doctor recommendation. Chiropractic is always a good place to start, but you have to find a good one.
In your case, you may start with a chiro that deals in Auto accidents or uses decompression therapy, they see disc herniation injuries very frequently and can probably give you the best diagnosis and/or refer you to where you need to be. These doctors have good reputations with doctors of other specialties in their area and are not afraid to refer you as needed.
If you find that you have a disc herniation:
If you try chiro, give it a good 2 weeks of following the care plan exactly as recommended to see if you have a positive change. If you feel that you will have a hard time following the care plan then I would say to bypass the chiropractic.
If it is ineffective, the next step is usually cortizone shots from your neuro or primary care physician. The first treatment should give you relief, maybe not complete, but it should help with the pain. Just remember that this is not helping the problem, only taking away the pain. The time when the pain is diminished is a good time to rehab or what ever your doctor feels is appropriate. The problem here is that prolonged use of cortizone shots leads to rapid osteoporosis.
The last option is surgery, sadly about half of them fail. The other half do well. The problem here is that if the doctor chooses to do a surgical fusion, then the adjacent segments are placed at a higher risk of herniating, and the problem starts all over again.
I know this did not answer your question, but hopefully it will give a little insight.
mine didn’t help me at all,all he wanted to do was push herbal medicine on me at alot of money.go get an MRI to see whats causing the pain, then get reffered to a pain management clinic they will help you.i’m in the same boat, but i’m doing alot better now.
Tell me what you're thinking...
